The Career Development Center is part of Qatar University's Student Affairs Sector and is responsible for guidance, professional development and training to help prepare students to engage in the labor market and help them gain the best opportunities and job offers available in the labor market. Commenting on the services provided by the center, Maha Al Marri, Director of the Center, said that the center employs 1,400 students part-time. Three years ago the center started a program of ‘assistants for faculty,’ for students to participate in the teaching process and get more involved with faculty members. One of Qatar University's strategic objectives is to increase the number of Qatari cadres. The program trains students to become faculty members and develops this skill by allowing students to explain part of the course under the supervision and presence of the university professor.

The Career Counseling Department is responsible for directing and guiding students at different stages of their university life in order to help them discover themselves through sessions organized by the department to acquaint students with their strengths, tendencies and true desires, while linking it to the labor market. The center in cooperation with the Office of Strategic Planning and Development conducts a study in which the needs of the labor market are measured by specialization and functional skills. Based on the results, programs and workshops are organized to develop students.

The Student Employment Program at the center provides partial employment opportunities for students within the university according to specific conditions. The first condition being that the student has passed 24 hours within the hours of study, meaning that first year students are not qualified for these tasks so as not to interfere with their academic duties. It is also necessary that students have a GPA of at least 2.5 and must be a regular student. The department also provides training programs targeting students enrolled in student employment and insuring they are qualified before entering the career area. Examples of training programs prepared by the Career Development Center for students include compulsory customer service and professional ethics programs.

The labor market relations department at the center serves as a link between students, graduates and various labor markets. It contributes to the provision of field training opportunities through coordination with the labor market for all students, as well as providing academic sponsorship for Qatari students. The department also organizes the Qatar Career Fair, which is organized annually with the participation of more than 70 companies from various sectors both private and government, which benefit graduates from all faculties and disciplines.

According to the statistics in 2018, it was found that the exhibition last year was attended by more than 5500 students from different levels of study. 1031 students benefited from the workshops and training programs, in addition to specialized workshops designed to target the needs of the colleges, benefiting 1568 students.
