QU gains further accreditation credit for its programs from prestigious international institutions as evidence of the university’s development and quality of its programs

Academic accreditation is considered an important indicator of the development of universities and evidence of the standard of excellence and quality of output. For this reason, Qatar University has, for years, sought out academic accreditation from established international institutions of the highest caliber. Various programs and colleges have obtained this honor from the world’s most prestigious establishments such as the College of Engineering, Business and Administration, Education, Pharmacy in addition to a number of programs in the College of Arts and Sciences.
This year the Royal Statistical Society of Britain (RSS) accredited the BSc Statistics Program in the College of Arts and Sciences; The Canadian Society for Chemistry (CSC) accredited the BSc Chemistry Major; The Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES) accredited the BSc Environmental Sciences program and the Committee of Heads of Environmental Sciences (CHES) accredited the MSc program.
The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC) accredited the BA in Mass Communications program.
The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited the College of Business and Economics program.
In addition, Qatar University’s College of Engineering has officially renewed its academic accreditation for seven of its bachelor programs from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). ABET accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology. This renewal is an international achievement and a testament to the international standards of the program. The timing coincides with the significant expansion of the college’s programs and offerings.
Qatar University’s College of Engineering is one of the first colleges to receive academic accreditation, starting in October 2004.
Furthermore, Qatar University’s College of Education was accredited for a new set of educational programs, adding on to previous accredited programs from last year from prestigious international accreditation institutions.
These new accreditations include: Full accreditation from the National Science Teaching Association for the bachelor of education degree, secondary education program, specialization in English and primary education. Full accreditation from Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) for diploma in secondary education, English language specialization. Full accreditation from the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) for master of education. These new accreditations bring the total number of accredited programs in the College of Education to seven. In addition, other programs that have received conditional accreditation due to the lack of regular students will soon be added.
