The students in the Oil and Gas course taught by Dr Talal Al-Emadi had the opportunity of a guest lecture on May 15 by two Shell Qatar officials -- Legal Head Hugh Cardozo and Legal Counsel Nasser Al-Taweel. The lecture was in line with the College of Law’s (LAWC) commitment to expose its students to the knowledge and experience of experts from leading companies and legal institutions.
The students were oriented on the company’s major projects in Qatar, its strong relationship with government institutions in Qatar, and the Pearl Gas to Liquids (GTL), the world’s largest plant to turn natural gas into cleaner-burning fuels and liquid products. They also heard from the two experts about the role of their legal department, and aspects of their social responsibilities in supporting Qatar National Vision.
Commenting on the lecture, senior law student Asma Muftah Rasheed said: “Shell presented their topic in a clear and dynamic way, and to me, this was one of the most enjoyable lectures given by visitors from outside QU, which I really think should be repeated”.
Her colleague Fahad Abdulaziz Al-Thani said “To get a lecture from a giant international oil company such as Shell added to our understanding of what actually exists in the real world, and we are thankful to Dr Al-Emadi for this exposure”.
