13 Australian students complete ANNS program

Thirteen (13) students from Australian National University (ANU) completed a 6-week intensive Arabic-language course at the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Center (ANNS).

Paulina Bobis, Cindiya Siva, Anna Kaufmann, Kara Turnbull, Arian Formosa, Bronwyn Wrigley, Lingxiao Xu, Geraldine Fela , Dale Heslin, Daniel Price, Christopher Ross, Wesam Hadid, and Cameron Brady participated in the Applied Arabic Program taught by ANNS faculty, and by ANU Arabic Program Convenor Huda al-Tamimi, who accompanied the students.

The visit followed the agreement signed last year between QU and ANU on November 16, aimedat advancing student and faculty academic and cultural exchanges.

The visiting students also had the opportunity of a trip to the desert and the Inland Sea, as well as other significant sites in Qatar such as Al-Jazeera TV and the Museum of Islamic Arts.

Having recently evolved from its earlier position as a program, the Center has spurred further collaboration with external institutions such as Georgetown University, Osaka University, University of Tokyo, New Bulgarian University, Kiev University, and Pusan National University.
