Welcome Message from the Dean
Welcome to the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) at Qatar University (QU). With our ten academic departments and fourteen undergraduate programs, we are the largest of all QU’s Colleges, constituting the very core of the University.
CAS offers majors in a variety of relevant and exciting specializations, including Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Human Nutrition, Statistics, Arabic, Mass Communication, English, History, Geography, International Affairs, Sociology, and Social Work. Minors are also offered in most of these areas as well as in Geology and Translation, which allows for expansion of students’ employment prospects through accumulation of knowledge and skills outside of the main chosen area of studies. CAS also houses an Arabic program for non-native speakers who want to excel in the language. In addition to offering courses to over 1900 CAS students, those from all other majors at QU also complete courses at CAS. This year, the College of Arts and Sciences is also introducing two highly anticipated interdisciplinary graduate programs - a Masters in Environmental Sciences and a Masters in Gulf Studies. On Fall 2012 a new Masters Program in Arabic will be introduced.
CAS includes a diverse body of faculty, with 240 academic staff who come from all over the world and hail from 21 nationalities. As experts in their fields, their priority is to provide students with quality academic experience, as well as form strong links between research, teaching and learning.
