Welcome Message from the DeanWelcome to the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) at Qatar University (QU). With our ten academic departments and fourteen undergraduate programs, we are the largest of all QU’s Colleges, constituting the very core of the University.
CAS offers majors in a variety of relevant and exciting specializations, including Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Human Nutrition, Statistics, Arabic, Mass Communication, English, History, International Affairs, Sociology, and Social Work. Minors are also offered in most of these areas as well as in Geology and Translation, which allows for expansion of students’ employment prospects through accumulation of knowledge and skills outside of the main chosen area of studies. CAS also houses an Arabic program for non-native speakers who want to excel in the language. In addition to offering courses to over 6000 CAS students, those from all other majors at QU also complete courses at CAS. Last year, the College of Arts and Sciences has introduced two highly anticipated interdisciplinary graduate programs - a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences and a Master of Art in Gulf Studies. This year in Fall 2012, two new graduate programs are introduced - a Master of Art in Arabic Language and a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences.
CAS includes a diverse body of faculty, with more than 260 academic staff who come from all over the world and hail from over 20 nationalities. As experts in their fields, their priority is to provide students with quality academic experience, as well as form strong links between research, teaching and learning.
Qatar University’s College of Arts and Sciences offers students a unique experience that provides not only the road to professional accomplishments, but a foundation for lifelong learning.
