Welcome to the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) at Qatar University (QU). With our ten academic departments and seventeen undergraduate programs, we are the largest of all QU’s Colleges, constituting the very core of the University.
CAS offers majors in a variety of relevant and exciting specializations, including Biology, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Human Nutrition, Statistics, Arabic, Mass Communication, English, History, International Affairs, Sociology, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Sport Science and Policy, planning and Development. Minors are also offered in most of these areas as well as in Geology, Translation and Philosophy which allows for expansion of students’ employment prospects through accumulation of knowledge and skills outside of the main chosen area of studies. CAS also houses an Arabic program for Non-Native speakers who want to excel in the language. In addition to offering courses to over 6000 CAS students, those from all other majors at QU also complete courses at CAS.
In addition to the above, CAS offers 6 Graduate Programs, 2 in Arts and 4 in Sciences. These are: Master of Science in Environmental Sciences, Master of Arts in Gulf Studies, Master of Arts in Arabic Language, Master of Science in Biomedical Science, Master of Science in Materials Science and Technology and a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences.
In Order to foster a research inducing culture, 3 research centers were established in fall 2013: Gulf Studies Center, Sustainable Development Center, and Humanities and Social Sciences Center.
CAS includes a diverse body of faculty, with more than 480 academic staff who come from all over the world and hails from over 20 nationalities. As experts in their fields, their priority is to provide students with quality academic experience, as well as form strong links between research, teaching and learning.
