The Office of the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs assists the Dean in the administration of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and oversees all aspects of academic programs and services. It works in close cooperation with the Dean, the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, and the Assistant Dean for Students Affairs to sustain and advance the academic mission of the College.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Office’s responsibilities include the following:

  1. Coordinates assessment of academic programs within the college.
  2. Develops new academic programs according to the college and community needs.
  3. Participates in personnel matters including recruiting, renewal, termination, evaluation, and promotion.
  4. Reviews and approves faculty workload plans.
  5. Ensures quality assurance of courses by selection of assignments of faculty and cost effective delivery of courses.
  6. Supports faculty, course coordinators and department chairs by providing guidance and assist with counseling students.
  7. Documents curriculum changes within the college.
  8. Leads the college in securing accreditation from relevant accreditation bodies and ensure maintenance of such accreditations.
  9. Reviews program/course feasibility to decide if it should be offered.
  10. Discusses, reviews and approves student's examinations and assessment tools.
  11. Contributes to QU activities to enhance student success.
  12. Plans and implements retention strategy for current students.
  13. Supervises the CAS Academic Hub, Service Courses Unit and Assessment Committee.
  14. Attends information sessions and events in order to promote the college and university.
  15. Oversees strategic planning and execution by developing annual action plans, and follows up with each program to review progress.
