Welcome Message from the Director of Gulf Studies Program
As the Director of the Gulf Studies Program, I am very pleased to see so much interest in this unique and exciting program, the world’s first to focus exclusively on the Gulf within the region itself. Developed in 2011, the Gulf Studies Program continues to grow and advance teaching and scholarship in the Gulf Studies field. The program aims to provide our students an in-depth and interdisciplinary understanding of issues related to the contemporary states of the Gulf. Students have the unprecedented opportunity to engage with leading academics and practitioners in the field through classes and course work, conferences, special seminars, guest lectures, research and extracurricular activities.
The diverse and ambitious student body, with students from a variety of nationalities, academic and professional backgrounds, fosters a collaborative and open learning environment that provides them the space to discuss and debate perspectives and topics.
The PhD and MA programs position students to contribute to one of the world’s most rapidly developing regions, while also instilling a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
