Welcome to The Department of Health Sciences, a nationally recognized pioneer and leader in health education, research and clinical practice. The Department of Health Sciences was established in 1984 with the Biomedical Sciences Program, a handful of faculty, and about 50 students. The Department of Health Sciences is now home to two programs, the Biomedical Sciences Program, which is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), and the Human Nutrition Program, which will soon to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE). These two professional disciplines currently have an enrollment of over 300 students and its graduates hold prestigious positions in various sectors of the health field both nationally and internationally.
The Department views students as its priority. Students become part of an active learning community that offers a fulfilling academic experience in preparation for their careers. Our students contribute to the curriculum that includes classroom lectures, laboratory and simulation, internships and practicum experiences designed to encourage critical thinking, enhance clinical skills, and to be on track with the latest developments in the field of biomedical sciences and nutrition.
The Department provides a challenging and well-staffed atmosphere for its students, with excellent teaching and competent lecturing staff. The Department’s faculty members are comprised of top health science researchers with established reputations across the biomedical and nutrition fields. The Department also has a well-rounded innovative research program and has been granted multiple research grants from national and international research institutions
