It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the web page of the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics at College of Arts & Sciences at Qatar University.
With its vision of becoming one of the leading departments in the region, the MSP Department is committed to achieving academic excellence in teaching and scholarly activities as well as to serving the academic community and the public at large.  It currently offers a major in Statistics and, until recently, has offered a major in Mathematics as well as Physics. Our Bachelor’s degree programs are well established, and comparable to similar programs offered by regional universities.
It is our primary educational objective to play a crucial role in providing high quality undergraduate education to QU students. Our students will be equipped with valuable theoretical knowledge, technical skills, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, communication skills, and appreciation for teamwork, all necessary for their future career in educational, medical and industrial sectors.
The faculty members of the department are highly qualified faculty with international academic experience, and all of who are committed to advance the Mathematical and Physical Sciences through instruction and research.  Currently, one-third of the 30 faculty of the MSP Department are Qatari nationals. The members of the MSP Department are also involved in scholarly activities with the aim of extending the frontier of scientific knowledge that benefits the State of Qatar and humanity as a whole. Their research results have been disseminated internationally through publication and international and regional conferences. Moreover, some of their research has been supported by national and institutional grants.
The MSP Department continues to serve the Qatar community in various capacities including community outreach programs, professional development activities, and collaborative partnerships with various sectors of the national and international community.
