Poster Awards

As a part of the activities for the 2019 Annual Research Forum & Exhibition, Qatar University (QU) is organizing a poster session for QU staff who are faculty members, post docs, graduate students and undergraduate students. The best posters will be awarded in three categories covering four disciplines.

Categories and Disciplines

The categories:*

  1. Faculty and PostDoc
  2. Graduate Students
  3. Undergraduate Students

The disciplines:*

  1. Energy, Environment & Resource Sustainability
  2. Social Change and Identity
  3. Population, Health & Wellness
  4. Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

* Make sure to select ONE category and ONE discipline. Put these in the top-right corner of the poster (that is to say, in the corner at your left hand side).

There is no template available. You can use your preferred software to design your poster. Make sure to adhere to the poster guidelines:

* Please download the logos according to your poster needs.

Judging of Posters

Primary authors of the posters will be required to be present during designated times to answer questions (if any) regarding the contents of the posters. We strongly encourage the presenting author to be ready with a 2-3 min. “elevator talk” regarding the poster.

Awards will be given ONLY if the poster meets outlined criteria.


The top posters, selected by a designated committee based on the criteria listed below, will be awarded the best poster awards in each of the following categories:

  1. The Best Poster Award for Faculty and Postdoc
  2. The Best Poster Award for Graduate Students
  3. The Best Poster Award for Undergraduate Student

The award will be given based on a combination of factors including:

  • The quality of research presented in the poster,
  • Impact of the presented work on scholarly community and/or society,
  • Visual impact of the poster and overall messaging.

Each award will include:

  1. A certificate recognizing the effort
  2. An award


  • Deadline for receiving Poster’s electronic version is April 4th, 2019 *.
  • Deadline for receiving Posters printed version & fixing posters on Boards is April 11 and April 14, 2019, from 08:00 am to 06:00 pm.**
  • Judging of posters will be on April 15th, 2019.

* There will be no extension of the deadline.

** Participants should fix their printed posters on the boards assigned to them. Double face tape and some support will be provided.
