Implementation of the Distance Learning System

Due to the recent developments in regards to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and the increase in the number of cases in Qatar, and in line with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s recent decision to officially adopt distance learning for all students and suspend all physical attendance on campus, taking into consideration public interest, the health and safety of the students and faculty, the following has been decided:

  1. The university will officially implement distance learning for all students starting Sunday, 4 April, 2021 using the university’s established platform for e-learning (Blackboard and Blackboard Ultra). This applies to students in all stages of study: foundation, undergraduate, graduate (diploma, masters, PhD) be it in theoretical or practical courses of study.
  2. Relevant exams (mid-term and final) for courses will be held on campus, ensuring that all preventive and precautionary measures are upheld to create a safe environment, in accordance with the procedures set in place by the university. Faculty members will book study halls and inform students of the time and location in line with the Student Affairs procedures.
  3. Exemptions will be made for students to attend on-campus, provided that a faculty member obtains approval from the college dean, making sure that the utmost precaution and prevention practices are followed, by coordinating with the Health and Safety Office in the Facilities and General Services Department, to ensure that students have a safe and healthy environment.
  4. All academic policies and procedures will continue for the duration of the educational process.

In this context, we stress that all of our students, faculty, and staff should adhere to the preventive measures and health instructions put in place to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

We wish to make note of the following:

  1. In case you experience any symptoms of COVID-19, you must call your healthcare provider directly or the Ministry of Public Health Call Center at 16000 for further instructions.
  2. Compliance with the preventive measures announced by the authorities.

Qatar University is in direct contact with official authorities and will keep you regularly informed of any updates in case of further developments.
