Important Instructions for Fall 2021

We would like to emphasize the following important instructions for our students as part of QU endeavors to keep its students and community members healthy and safe while serving the public interest of students and the educational process:

  • The start of classes will be on Sunday, 15 August 2021 as per the academic calendar. All academic policies and university procedures will still apply including attendance and absence by attending virtual classes or courses that require on campus attendance.
    • All students are required to make sure they have university ID as they need to show it to access the classroom, the halls during midterm and final exams, or in case they are asked to do so by Security Officers or Health and Safety Officers.
    • For students who are expected to attend classes on campus, please note the following:
      • Please arrive early enough before their classes and exams to avoid any delays as a result of special measures and precautions inside buildings and in front of classrooms or exam halls.
      • Students who are enrolled in courses that require on campus attendance, and in case they have an online class immediately before or after their on campus class, are recommended to bring their personal laptops or tablets and earphones to be ready and make the utmost benefit of the hybrid model.
      • The decision to attend classes on campus excludes some categories of students )as determined by the Ministry of Public Health) who are most at risk of contracting COVID-19 and its complications (students with chronic diseases and pregnant women) until the state announces their possible return and any related procedures, taking into account the following points:
        • The student is exempted from attending classes on campus after filling the online exemption from attending classes on campus and attaching health certificates proving his/her health status to the designated committee in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. A separate broadcast with the application link will be sent to all students soon. For inquiries, please send an email to the committee at covidexemptions@qu.edu.qa.
        • Students with chronic diseases or those who are elderly, and have already submitted the exemption application in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 semesters and received the approval of the committee for full exemption from attending classes on campus, aren’t required to submit the exemption application again for Fall 2021.
        • Students who are within other categories such as (pregnant women, students who have or are suspected to have COVID-19, or in quarantine), are requested to submit the online exemption form again for Fall 2021 and attach health certificates verifying their health status.
        • Faculty members will provide the material on courses via Blackboard so that the student can make up for the classes. It is the student's responsibility to compensate for the classes he or she is absent from.
        • This category of students may have different evaluation methods as determined by the course instructor. Some assessments may require the student to be on campus with appropriate precautions in place.
        • Until future notice is issued, the services and programs provided by the following departments and centers will be available online during Fall 2021 semester: Admissions Department, Enrollment Management Department, Academic Advising Center, Career Development Center, Student Learning Support Center, Student Counseling Center, Inclusion and Special Needs Center).
