Vision
The Diploma of Special Education at Qatar University seeks to become a leading program in the region which prepares highly qualified educators and other professionals in the field of special education. The Special Education Program strives to achieve the goals of the educational reform efforts that stress the implementation of international curriculum standards, accountability, using multiple instructional methods to support the teaching and learning of students with disabilities.
Mission
The mission of the Diploma in Special Education Program is to prepare highly qualified educators in the field of special education who have the professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes and to support educational excellence for students with exceptionalities.
Objectives
This program seeks to support the vision of Qatar University by offering high quality, learning-centered education to candidates seeking teacher certification so that they may:
- Analyze the characteristics, etiology, and education considerations of people with disabilities.
- Design and implement effective educational programs at individual, group, institutional, and state levels.
- Develop and implement policy.
- Engage in scholarship and self-directed learning.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of professional and ethical practice.
