About Us
The international Math-teachers professionalization using lesson study in Qatar University (IMPULS-QU) joint efforts in partnership between the Qatar University and Tokyo-Gakugei University in Japan.
The lesson study project is an advanced learning approach that applies a systematic and strong model of professional development for primary and preparatory school teachers in Qatar.
Our Objectives

Build professional learning communities for mathematics teachers through lesson planning, implementation, and lesson reflection sessions where student learning is a focal point.

Enable teachers to self-reflect on their own professional practices and performance for continuous professional development.

Develop students' critical and creative thinking skills through problem solving methods.

Our Events
The National Center for Educational Development (NCED) conducts the annual Lesson Study Forum at the College of Education - Qatar University. The forum aims at:
- Introduce the joint effort and cooperation between Qatar University represented by the National Center for Educational Development and the University of Tokyo, Japan, represented by IMPULS International project and recognizing project implementation for the past years in Qatar.
- Model and highlight the process of the Lesson Study project and future visions.
- present a model lesson that represents an application of what teachers and students do during lessons to solve problems.
The first Lesson Study Forum held in March 2017, in which Ibn Sina Elementary School for Boys participated in the presentation of the lesson. The second Lesson Study Forum held in March 2018 in which Al-Markhia Elementary School for Girls participated in presenting the research lesson.
