Welcome to the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering
I would like to welcome you to the website of the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Qatar University. Our department is well known for its high-quality learning environment, its outstanding reputation in research, and its high involvement with the local community and industry. Our teaching and research span the main Civil Engineering disciplines of Structural Engineering, Construction management and safety, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Pavement and Transportation Engineering. Our academics, teaching assistants, technicians, and support staff in the department are working closely with their counterparts in other departments in the College of Engineering to support the vision of the college to be recognized in the region for the outstanding education, research, and community engagement, and for the quality of its socially responsible graduates.
Our department has a Major program at the undergraduate level leading to a bachelor degree and Postgraduate programs leading to master and Ph.D. qualifications. We also have a Minor undergraduate program in Engineering Project Management offered to students in the College of Engineering.
Our undergraduate program in Civil Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission; EAC of ABET, http://www.abet.org. Accreditation is a form of endorsement that the program offers the right quality of education that is officially recognised internationally. We are proud to have state-of-the-art facilities and our labs are ISO-certified in the field of construction testing materials.
