The Department of Chemical Engineering at Qatar University was founded to produce Chemical Engineering graduates who will contribute to the Qatari economy and well being. Qatar has a well-established oil and gas industry and rapidly expanding petrochemical industry that includes the new GTL processing facilities. Having abundant natural gas resources, operations in natural gas liquefaction, conversion, and utilization have been declared a national priority. The massive and rapid development in hydrocarbon processing must be accompanied with due care to the environment. Chemical Engineering at Qatar University emphasizes on clean processing technologies in its program.
