Dr. Mazen Omer O. A. Hasna (College of Engineering Dean)

Dr. Mazen received his BSc degree in 1994 from Qatar University, MS degree in 1998 from the University of Southern California and PhD degree in 2003 from the University of Minnesota, all in Electrical Engineering, majoring in communications engineering.

 In 2003, he joined the electrical engineering department at Qatar University as an assistant professor, and was appointed as the department head in 2005. In 2007, he was appointed as the associate dean for academic affairs at the college of engineering. In July 2008, Dr. Hasna was appointed as the dean of engineering.

Dr. Hasna served in many committees on the college and university levels. He has more than twenty publications in international journals and conferences, and is currently involved in several major research projects in the area of wireless communications. He is also active in the area of engineering education and accreditation, and has several publications in these areas.

Dr. Hasna is the recipient of the 2002 Mathew-Huber Award for excellence in transportation research and education, Center for Transportation Studies, University of Minnesota. He is a senior member in IEEE and its communication and education societies, and a founding member of the society of Qatari engineers

Research interest: Digital communication theory and its application to performance evaluation of wireless communication systems over fading channels.
