The College of Medicine supports and provides students with a unique, diversified environment both academically and socially, while embracing Qatari values and culture.
In addition to classes, studying and building a great academic foundation, students will enjoy time to socialize and have fun.
CMED takes student life beyond the classroom. Students can get involved in outreach community service activities, participate in health awareness days and experience leadership opportunities that will develop lifelong skills, give them an edge as graduates, and help them be contributors and leaders anywhere in the world.
Volunteering and Outreach Opportunities:
Students will find many opportunities to volunteer and participate in internationally recognized health awareness days, both in the College and for the wider community, such as the March for Cancer, debates on how to halt the rise of diabetes, immunization and hypertension awareness campaigns, and many more.
Workshops on time management, stress management, test-taking skills, etc. are readily available for additional student support. These mainly focus on equipping students with tools that can help them elevate their learning process, improve their communication skills and further build their personalities.
Extra-Curricular Social Activities:
Student-driven extracurricular social activities are organized by the Medical Student Club (MSC) throughout the year, bringing together CMED’s students, faculty and staff. The community regularly looks forward to Shukran Qatar, Chocolate Day, barbecues, iftar, movie nights, sports fun days, and numerous other memorable events, as well as reaching out in cooperation with other colleges for deeper campus involvement.
The MSC is active, dynamic and diversified; it is managed by club officers that are student representatives elected by their peers. It represents the pulse and the vibe of the College of Medicine.
Extra-Curricular Educational Activities:
The Qatar University Medical Student Journal (QUSMJ) is operated and organized by students, under supervision from faculty advisors and approval from the QU health cluster. The QUSMJ publishes exemplary research papers related to medicine, pharmacy and health sciences, encouraging young students to become significant researchers and providing them with a realistic opportunity to have their work published.
CMED students also participate throughout the academic year in various medical conferences in and out of Qatar.
