The only laboratory animal facility in the country-- Laboratory Animal Research Center (LARC), is housed at Qatar University. Our research groups aim to collaborate closely with LARC to employ animal models and elucidate disease mechanisms and novel therapeutic strategies.

The recent breakthroughs in genetically modified animals has provided new tools for high caliber scientific research. Our research groups will utilize humanized mouse models, knock in and knock out transgenic mice and immune-deficient animal models to mimic important diseases such as cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatitis, sepsis and transplantation. The expertise of our researchers and the efforts of our students will generate new scientific breakthroughs that can be harnessed for translational research in clinical trials (phase I/II/III), in collaboration with HMC.
