QU College of Pharmacy students honored on the 9th annual Dean's list virtual ceremony

Qatar University College of Pharmacy (QU-CPH) recognized 121 of its highest achieving students for the Fall 2019 and Spring 2020 semesters by hosting the 9th Annual Dean’s List ceremony virtually which honored their achievements. The ceremony acknowledged the efforts of pre-pharmacy and pharmacy students who made it onto the Dean’s List, by achieving a GPA of 3.5 or above. Assistant Dean of Student affairs, Dr. Alla El-Awaisi, opened the virtual ceremony. This was followed by welcoming remarks from CPH Dean Dr. Mohammad Diab followed by announcement of the names of the students on the Dean’s list. QU-CPH administrators and faculty then provided messages of congratulations to the students followed by messages from the students expressing their delight for this important achievement. The ceremony was live streamed on Qatar University YouTube channel.
Dr. Mohammad Diab in this welcoming speech highlighted the College’s achievements over the previous academic year, in which he said: “I wish to congratulate you for your inclusion on this list. This is the result of your efforts and hard work in the interest of excellence in educational attainment, which was also met with huge support from your parents who played a great role in providing the appropriate environment until you reached the list of distinction and honor. Also, I cannot forget to mention the great effort exerted by the faculty members in the college. QU-CPH has always sought excellence in its education, scientific research and various services, and this distinction comes within the framework and strategy of excellence at Qatar University as a leading educational institution in the region.”
Dr. Alla El-Awaisi in her opening speech said: “The Dean’s List is an academic award to recognize the remarkable achievements of undergraduate students who achieved the highest grades in all the courses they studied. Despite the challenges that were imposed, and are still being imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, our students at the College of Pharmacy have proven, as always, their outstanding academic performance, and have earned the right to be honored in today’s ceremony despite this difficult period and challenging circumstances.”
Doctor of Pharmacy student Sara Thiab, who received the 8th and 9th Pin, commented, “It is a pleasure to have one’s efforts appreciated and being on the Dean’s list is one achievement that feeds into that and boosts motivation. I’m grateful to our professors who constantly thrive to bring out the best in all of us, and to our college administration for recognizing both extracurricular and academic excellence, motivating students to continue working hard. “
Final year student Hend Al-Naimi, who received the 6th and 7th Pin, commented saying, “I am very proud and delighted to be to be recognized on the Dean’s list for the 7th time in such demanding and strong program and the fact that the College of Pharmacy ensures to recognize the hard work and celebrate our achievements through this event is rewarding and empowers us to work harder and continue to seek excellence."
General Pharmacy Student Alghalya Al-Jufairi, who received her 1st pin ,said: “I feel honored to be recognized for the hard work and dedication that I have put into last academic year. Despite the challenges that I faced with online learning, I managed to overcome those struggles by staying motivated and organizing my time wisely.”
