QU awarded 37 proposals from Undergraduate Research Experience Program

Qatar University (QU) is awarded 37 Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP) proposals for this cycle. The UREP is one of the leading and competitive research programs that is offered to QU research community from Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). The program gives QU undergraduate students the opportunity to be more engaged in the research field and to bring their research ideas to the next step.

This cycle QU submitted 97 proposals, of them 37 were awarded. This success rate is 38% higher than the last cycle, which was 33% previously, where 20 out of 60 proposals were awarded. The current UREP cycle is jointly funded by Qatar Shell and QNRF with the aim of supporting research and development in the country.

The UREP is one of the main programs offered by QNRF and designed to fulfill its aims in developing research infrastructure in Qatar by establishing the basis of scientific research at the undergraduate level. UREP provides a great opportunity for undergraduate students to experience scientific research and to engage in the various processes to build skills essential for the professional development of students.

In line with QNRF’s vision and Qatar National Vision 2030, Shell and QNRF are jointly launching the new UREP Cycle with the aim of supporting research & development in the country. The aim of this initiative is to create a new bond between Shell and Qatar via establishing an effective cooperation between QNRF and Shell with regards to research and capacity building through a potential partnership to support the prestigious UREP.
