The eco-friendly parking can accommodate 2,000 cars at a time

QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 7 to inaugurate QU new multi-storey parking.

The event was attended by QU VP for Administration and Financial Affairs Dr. Khalid Al-Khater, QU VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Omar Al-Ansari, QU Director of Capital Projects Eng. Ibrahim Al-Fakhroo, and Project Manager Eng. Hisham Bader, as well as QU officials and staff.
The new multi-storey parking includes four levels and a basement and can accommodate 2,000 cars at a time. It is equipped with a plate recognition technology and light space indicators, and offers QU members a state-of-the-art and precise car park monitoring service.

In his remarks, Dr. Hassan Al Derham said: “The establishment of the new multi-storey parking demonstrates the expansion of QU’s infrastructure. The new parking is designed and constructed in compliance with the best standards and with the health and safety requirements.”

Eng. Ibrahim Al-Fakhroo said: “The new parking incorporates environmentally friendly construction elements and solar energy systems. 50% of the parking’s energy is provided through solar energy. It also includes a cafeteria and two bridges leading to the College of Business and Economics and the new College of Engineering building, as well as the Research Complex.”
