One hundred and five (105) employers were honored in the “Employer Recognition Ceremony” held on December 13 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the presence of QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham, French Ambassador to Qatar H.E. Eric Chevallier, QU leaders, deans, faculty and staff, as well as representatives of local institutions from the public and private sectors.

Themed “Partnering for Students’ Success”, the event was organized by QU Careers Services Center (CSC). It aimed to honor companies and institutions in different sectors who collaborated with QU colleges to train or sponsor their students during 2017. They were presented with trophies by Dr Hassan Al Derham in recognition of their contribution. The ceremony featured the screening of a video on QU colleges.

In his remarks, Dr Hassan Al Derham said: “Since its inception, QU places the needs of the labor market and the local economy at the heart of its strategic vision. This is reflected through its various academic programs that meet the needs of the local economy. Over the past years, the University has developed its outcomes. In this regard, it is committed to equip its graduates with the knowledge and skills, such as analytical and critical thinking, that enable them to cope with the labor market’s fluctuations.”

He added: “QU has implemented its new strategic plan (2018-2022), which aims to ensure academic and research excellence and to tackle the challenges that face the national economy while fulfilling the needs of local society. Additionally, the new strategy aims to drive education based on entrepreneurship and innovation, to ensure financial and institutional sustainability, and to advance digital transformation.”

CSC Director Ms Maha Al Marri said: “Based on the directives of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, QU is committed to shape a generation of professionals who are capable to assume their responsibilities and contribute to the fulfillment of Qatar National Vision 2030. This can be achieved through the continuous collaboration between QU and the various local institutions and sectors, which support QU students during their academic and professional journey.”
