QU Alumni Association holds 7th meeting

New elected members welcomed

The Qatar University Alumni Association (QUAA) recently held the 7th meeting of its Board of Directors in which new elected members were welcomed and issues such as the Association agenda and strategic plan were discussed.

Attendees included QU President Dr Hassan Al-Derham, QUAA President Dr Saif Ali Al-Hajari and Board members, Alumni and Partner Relations Manager Rana AlFalasi, as well QU VPs, deans, associate deans, and Chapter leaders.

Discussion focused on the necessary criteria in the strategic plan to enhance the connection between alumni and their alma mater such as the establishment of professional development workshops, and the holding of various events such as “Coffee with an Alumnus” and the first conference of alumni associations in the GCC. They also emphasized the importance of supporting the Association’s fund, profiling alumni for press coverage, and organizing visits to various companies and institutions where alumni hold leadership appointments.

Dr Al-Hajari welcomed the new elected Board members for 2015. -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director of European Affairs Department H.E. Mr Khaled Bin Rashid Al-Mansouri, Director of Al-Sharq Studies & Public Opinion Research Center Dr Khalid Al-Jaber, General Manager of Al-Fursan Center Training and Consultations Dr Haya Al-Madadi, journalist Hassan AlSaeei, President of Qatar Women’s Sport Committee Mrs Ahlam Al-Mana, Childhood Cultural Center Public Relations and Communication Director Mr Abdullah Hamed Al Mulla, Principal of Ahmad Bin Mohammad  Secondary Independent School for Boys Mr Hassan Al-Baker.

The meeting also featured a presentation delivered by Mrs AlFalasi on the Association’s strategies and activities, and in which she addressed the importance of strengthening links with QU alumni and supporting the Alumni fund.

Commenting on the event, Dr Al-Derham said: “In keeping with its commitment to strengthening links with government and private organizations, Qatar University continues to build collaborations and strategic partnerships with industry, government, academia, business and civil society. In this regard, alumni have an undeniable role as QU ambassadors within the society and various sectors.”

He added: “QU has had a long and abiding relationship with its graduates based on mutual trust, confidence and pride and recognition of their invaluable link between the university and the society. Through its Alumni Association, the organization aims to leverage connections with its graduates. The Association offers to the wider community a wide range of programs, events, and chapters that bring together graduates with common interests which will contribute to help them reach success in their professional and personal endeavors, and to engage them in various initiatives to give back to the community.”

Dr Al-Hajari said: “This is an important day in the events calendar of the Association as it brings together the distinguished alumni who continue to be engaged in the process of progress and development in contribution towards the aspirations of the country’s wise leadership.”
