Law Students Give Good Showing at Presitgious Vienna Moot

College of Law students gave an admirable showing at the 19th Annual Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot  held recently in Vienna, Austria, the pre-eminent moot on commercial law and arbitration in the world.  This was the second time QU participated in this event.
Aisha Hassan Al-Emadi, Noor Abdulla Al Kuwari, Sara Saleh Al-Qahdi, and Al-Anoud Marwan Musleh competed against the Universities of Lapland (Finland), Washington (USA), Southern Denmark, and Vienna (Austria) in the written and oral advocacy competition in English which drew teams from over 280 universities and 65 countries worldwide.
In the earlier Middle East pre-moot held this year in a lead up to the Vienna competition, Aisha Hassan Al-Emadi was awarded “Best Oralist – Claimant”.   QU won the award for “Best Memorandum-Claimant” in last year’s Middle East Pre-Moot.
Three of the four team members who participated in the Vienna competition recently completed the College’s new course in Advocacy Skills which is taught by the Legal Writing and Advocacy Skills Program Director and Vis Team Coach, Dr Conrad Sturm.  The newly-developed course is the third of three courses that were developed by the College as part of a new comprehensive skills program in legal research, writing, and advocacy.
