In 2003, I joined the electrical engineering department at Qatar University as an assistant professor, and was appointed as the department head in 2005. In 2007, I was appointed as the associate dean for academic affairs at the college of engineering. Before assuming current role as Vice President and Chief Academic Officer of Qatar University, I held the position of "Dean of College of Engineering". My research investigates digital communications theory and its applications to wireless communication systems. At present, my research is specifically focused on cooperative diversity, wireless sensor networks, cognitive radio systems and software defined radio systems.

Dr. Nancy was the curriculum specialist for the Four Directions Challenge in Technology Project, a six year, six million dollar project in which 19 Native American schools and four universities worked collaboratively with parents, elders, and students to create culturally-relevant education through technology. Salim Ferwati: In 1982 Ferwati obtained a Bachelor degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Damascus, Syria; in 1988, a Master’s Degree in Urban Design from the University of Kansas, USA; in 1993 a Ph.D. degree in Cultural /Behavioral Geography at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Between 1996 and 1999 he was active in three areas: teaching, architectural documentation of 80 historical buildings, and running his own architectural firm. In 1999, he moved to Saudi Arabia, to work at the College of Architecture and Planning at King Faisal University as a lecturer. In August 2005, he joined the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering at Sultan Qaboos University as an assistant professor to teach and help in establishing the new architectural engineering program. From September 2011 and up to present, he, as an  assistant professor, joined the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Qatar University to participate in teaching both graduate and undergraduate students. In 2010 he published a book titled “Urban Semiotic Analyses: Spatial Design and Behavioral Relations.” His research interests are related to spatial behavior as generator of spatial pattern, space perception, and urban semiotics.

Farid Benyahia is a Professor of Chemical Engineering and was previously the head of department of chemical engineering for two terms. Prior to joining Qatar University in Sept 2006, he held positions as faculty member and head of department of chemical and petroleum engineering at the UAE University, senior lecturer and Director of the Master program in Clean Manufacturing Technology at Teesside University in the UK, Research Fellow at Leeds University in the UK and Research Engineer in petrochemicals at ENIP Petrochemicals in Algeria. He obtained his PhD and MSc  in Chemical Engineering in 1985 and 1981 respectively, at Newcastle University in the UK and his BSc(Hons) from Aston University in the UK in 1980. Farid Benyahia was the joint recipient of Qatar University teaching excellence award in 2011 for the scientific field and received other awards in teaching at QU and research presentations at local and international conferences. He ran a workshop on innovative engineering design teaching at the 2012 ABET symposium in St Louis, USA and delivered a keynote presentation on his research on carbon management in Houston, Texas at the American Academy of Sciences conference in June 2012. He led NPRP, industrial and UREP research grants on environmental research specific to Qatar and the region and successfully supervised three Master thesis at QU (2012-2013).
