The Environmental Studies Center and the Gas Processing Center organized the first Qatar Clean Air Research (QCAR) Workshop. The workshop was a result of collaboration with Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI) and COWI. The workshop which was the first to be organized in the country intended to discuss issues related to air quality and sources of air pollution in the country. It also focused on suggesting recommendations for mitigation of the adverse effects associated with air pollution including human health and recommends best practice for air quality management that will form the basis for a national air quality strategy. | |

| Key speakers were invited from USA, UK, Denmark, Netherlands and Bahrain. The workshop was attended by delegates from the governmental agencies including the Ministry of Environment and the Supreme Council of Health and the major key players in the industry as well as students from the environmental club of the Qatar University. |
