Mission and Vision
The mission of the CPD-CPH program is to ensure the delivery and dissemination of high quality, non-degree, evidence-based educational programs that meet the existing and emerging educational and professional needs of practicing pharmacists involved in pharmacy policy and practice in Qatar as well as the needs of other health care professionals in the country.
The Continuing Professional Development (CPD-CPH) Program of the College of Pharmacy at Qatar University reflects the commitment of the college to the continuing professional development of pharmacists in Qatar. The goal of the CPD-CPH Program is to support the lifelong learning of all practicing pharmacists to ensure optimal patient care. The CPD-CPH Program achieves its mandate, in part, through the provision of educational programs that will improve and expand the competency of pharmacy professionals, researchers, scientists and allied professionals involved in pharmacy practice.
The competency expectations promoted by the CPD-CPH Program are those originally developed by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) in 2007 which have been adopted and adapted with written permission as the Professional Competencies for Qatar Pharmacists at Entry to Practice (2011).
The Supreme Council of Health’s Qatar Council for Health Practitioners accreditation team visited the College of Pharmacy on May 21, 2013 to review the Continuing Professional Development (CPD-CPH) program and conduct a site visit. On Thursday June 13, 2013 the college received the official report of accreditation:
“Accreditation Decision: The Qatar Council for Health Practitioners declares the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University has been found to fulfill the accreditation standards and requirements and is granted accreditation as a provider for continuous medical education and professional development for health practitioners.”
In January 2014, the CPD-CPH program received accreditation by the Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE) of the United States, the second in the Gulf to achieve the ACPE accreditation status. Currently, the CPD-CPH program of the College of Pharmacy, Qatar University, is the only institution in Qatar to be accredited by both a national and an international accrediting organization. Additionally, in September 2014, the CPD-CPH program received the Outstanding Educational Award (first prize) at the GCC Pharmaceutical Conference 2014 in Dubai, UAE, placing it at the top of the list of all competing programs of this prestigious award.
