The college offers a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree program that started in September 2011. The PharmD program is designed to prepare promising BSc (Pharm) graduates for a fulfilling career in advanced clinical pharmacy practice, research and academia. The PharmD program was approved by the Qatar University Board of Regents in parallel with the BSc (Pharm) program in 2007.
The PharmD program is designed to meet international standards for an advanced degree in the health sciences field. It involves post-baccalaureate study designed to build on the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values developed during the undergraduate degree experience. A 3-phase (qualifying, didactic, internship) part-time study plan is also available for select resident Qatar pharmacy practitioners with an approved BSc (Pharm) degree from another university who wish to continue their post-baccalaureate training while practicing in Qatar. This part-time study plan emulates similar programs offered by North American universities. A minimum of 59 credit-hours of didactic course work, weekend and/or evening workshops and full-time internships will be required. Successful applicants will be required to complete a series of qualifying courses to progress to the balance of the study plan.
