Marcel Winatschek's Tokyopunk

I would like to welcome everyone back after a restful break and to especially give a warm welcome to the new batch of students who have just joined QU.   We are pleased that QU continues to be the first choice for national students and parents and are equally proud to inspire and empower the next generation of Qatar’s leaders.  Employers also look to QU to recruit our fine graduates and have been a constant source of support of our mission and vision.

University-industry collaboration is a key area of QU’s progress and has engendered a host of partnerships with leading organizations in Qatar, providing our students with invaluable opportunities towards their success.  Our recent signing with QAPCO for their continued support of programs at College of Engineering is one of the many examples of our collaboration with industry that serve to advance our academic and research initiatives and contribute to the goals expressed in the National Vision and development strategies.

Last week, we were pleased to join with the rest of the country in celebrating National Sport Day and participating in advancing a culture of health and fitness throughout the society.   We continue to do our part to promote healthy lifestyles by expanding  healthy meal choices in our cafeterias, offering sports activities and facilities to QU members, promoting sports and fitness through the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) Sport Science Program, and leading awareness campaigns on health-related issues, whether through the Medical Clinic or through medical education programs such as the College of Pharmacy, the College of Medicine, and the CAS Health Sciences Department, including its notable “Health Pulse” broadcast.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Dr Abdulla Khalid Al-Ali and Dr Noor Ali Al-Maadeed from College of Engineering and Dr Mariam Al-Mulla, College of Arts & Sciences, on receiving the SEC Excellence Award for PhD holders. This is a wonderful achievement and testament to the talent and capability of our graduate students and the dedication of the Scholarships Office in guiding their progress.

Congratulations also go to our football team for their recent win in the Qatar Intercollegiate Football tournament final match against Qatar Aeronautical College. This is the team’s second year in winning the championship and highlights the hard work and dedication of the coaches, Student Affairs staff and team members.
