In 1987, faculty of Arts & Science- Department of Arabic language (Qatar University) established a program for teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers. The program is organized and managed by a committee of    specialized academic staff.

The duration of study is three Semesters (One Academic Year) with each semester lasting four months. After completing the program requirements the students would go home with open hearts and minds filled with experience and a warm feeling of Qatari hospitality that they would always treasure.

Many students from different countries of the world have enrolled in the program. The program received delegations from Georgetown University, Duke University, the American University in Cairo, and the American and French Embassies in Qatar. The program has also been flooded with applications from renowned universities and educational organizations concerned with teaching Arabic to non-native speakers and Islamic culture.

To offer wide opportunity for the interested students and Arabic learners, audience program for the local residents students as well as, an evening paid program, has been established in parallel to the main program. Aiming to enhance the Arabic culture and Qatar as a country will remain for ever in the hearts and minds of lots of educated and open mind people.
