Information Science Programme

a) Encouraging the student to have a positive attitude towards their specialized field and maintain this attitude in their professional career
 
b) Acquainting the students with the various types of Information bodies and establishments and providing them with the know-how pertinent to running or managing these establishments
 
c) Exploring a host of information resources - traditional and electronic - and providing the skills essential for using and evaluating these resources
 
d) Applying descriptive and analytical criteria essential for understanding information networks and using basic bibliographical tools
 
e) Acquiring skills essential for assessing the need of the end-users
 
f) Providing the students with computer basics and the software essential for information and library science
 
g) Acquainting the students with the technologies pertinent to information and communication and applying them to their specialized field
 
The student is required to take courses worth 120 credit hours and 2 noncredit courses in English: ENG 210246 and ENG 210247. The programme has four components:

Minor for Students NOT Majoring in Information
and Library Science(24 credits)


The Department offers a Minor Programme to students not majoring in information technology. The programme consists of courses worth 24 credits: Compulsory Course ( 6 credits) and Elective Courses ( 18 credits).
