It stands unquestioned that quality in education and effective research are inherently connected in today’s academia, and that innovation in programs and classrooms is constantly fueled and enriched by those faculty members who are actively engaged in research. As with the most modern universities around the world, Qatar University strategically aims to develop and enhance research which will acknowledge and define new standards of excellence.
 
Therefore, the mission of our office is to foster and improve the research environment, and to formulate policies and guidelines for the allocation of funds for university research and faculty development. Furthermore, we aim at developing applied research in order to inform our curriculum, to establish credibility with and meet the needs of the local and regional community, and to further the personal and career aspirations of our faculty and academic staff.
 
Our office takes responsibility for the administrative support of all aspects of University research activity, and provides both secretarial and executive support for those activities. The office also manages the University's internal research funding schema and all non-financial aspects of external grants and research agreements.
