About Graduation Ceremony

The Class of 2017 Graduation Ceremony will take place at QNCC , in accordance with the ceremony timelines shown on the ceremony website.

All graduates should follow these instructions

  • Graduates are required to show up at 7:30 a.m.; entry gates will be closed at 9:00 a.m. sharp. This will give us time to verify names and seat students in an orderly fashion.

  • Graduates must wear their uniforms and show their IDs and invitation cards on entry.
  • Faculty, members of QU Board of Regents, and other invitees will attend the ceremony.
  • Photography during the ceremony and near the podium is strictly prohibited. Only official QU photographers are permitted to take photographs.
  • Children under 12 will not be allowed to attend the ceremony.
  • Graduates shall not leave their seats before the end of the ceremony.
  • Uniforms shall not be taken off before the end of the ceremony.
  • Graduates and their family members are required to remain in their seats until the end of the ceremony and leaving during the ceremony will not be permitted.
  • Graduates are required to register their names and receive their graduation badges at the college-designated desks before entering the hall. There will be signposts outside the hall to guide graduates to their college-designated desks.
  • Upon entering the hall, graduates must confirm their names again with the employee assigned to their college.
  • Graduates must attach their graduation badges to the left side of their chest and distinguished students will be required to attach special badges, which will be distributed during the graduation ceremony.
  • A medical team will be available in case of emergency.

*** All graduates are expected to abide by the above instructions, to ensure the smooth-running of the ceremony.

Graduate Speech and Event Moderator

A committee, chaired by VP for Student Affairs Dr. Khalid Al-Khanji, has been set up to select an event moderator and a student to deliver a speech. This student will be selected based on specific criteria: must be Qatari, has a minimum GPA required by the Committee, in addition to the ability to present, clarity of voice, personal strength, and the speech itself is prepared by the student.

Quran Reciter of the ceremony

A committee, chaired by VP for Student Affairs Dr Khalid Al-Khanji and the membership of one of the faculty members who is specialist in the field of Quran memorization and its knowledges to choose the Quran reciter of the graduation ceremony.

Announcing the committee of event moderator and Quran Reciter

During spring 2017, graduates, and those who are expected to graduate who are willing to participate in nominating themselves to be Event moderator or Quran Reciter will be informed and directed to apply their documents through a specific page, and they will be informed with the dates of the committee meetings and the rest of details by an e-mail

Verification of Graduates' Information

On entry, graduates are required to check with one of the desks to ensure accuracy of their information. After checking-in, students will be given a card providing all their respective information. They may then proceed to their designated seats.

Graduation Invitation Cards

During the rehearsal, each student will receive invitation cards entitling him/her to attend the official event along with his/her relatives, according to the given number of invitation cards. The Cards with be distributed during the rehearsal only and there are no extra cards to be distributed.

Ceremony Organizers

Our staff, in addition to other volunteers, will be present to offer guidance and any assistance to graduates during the event.

Men's Graduation Uniform

The men's graduation uniform consists of the traditional black Qatari "Bisht", as a unified uniform for all male graduates. The "Bisht" must be worn during the rehearsal and the official ceremony.

Women's Graduation Uniform

The uniforms will be distributed starting from Tuesday 19 September until 29 of September 2017 from the food court Building.

The graduation uniform has been designed to combine both originality and Qatar's heritage, and features the traditional graduation uniform. The uniform will be sold to students for QR150 (cash only) several days before the rehearsal, you must show your QU ID or Qatari ID.

In case the graduate is not able to get the uniform herself, kindly submit a letter of authority with a copy of the QU ID or Qatari ID attached to it with the person to be receiving the uniform instead of you.

Date and time of distribution will be announced in due course. Uniforms are available in different sizes; small, medium, large, and x-large. Graduates wishing to attend the graduation ceremony must wear their uniform during the rehearsal and the official ceremony. No modifications to the uniform will be allowed in terms of design; limited alterations can be made to size only.

Badge

Graduation badges will be given to students at the necessary time during the ceremony. Students must affix the badge to the left side of their chest.

Going up to the Podium

All graduates will have the honor of walking up to the podium. 

Graduation Gifts

Certificates of congratulation and respective gifts will be given to all graduates.

Distinguished Students

At the beginning of the ceremony, all distinguished male graduates will be honored at the end of ceremony by His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and the female graduates will be honored at the beginning of the ceremony, by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al Thani, wife of His Highness the Emir. A group photo will be taken with Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al Thani.

Non-attendance

In the event that a student fails to attend the Ceremony, s/he may refer to the Registration  Department – Records Section to claim his/her gift and respective certificates. The Records Section will notify students when they may do so.
