New Student Orientation is a full-day event designed to assist new Foundation Program and Undergraduate students become familiar with the challenging and exciting opportunities that Qatar University provides. Attendance at New Student Orientation is mandatory for all new Foundation Program and Undergraduate students.

As part of their orientation day activities, students will be organized into smaller college cohorts allowing them to become familiar with their academic program and to better connect with their academic advisors, with their college peers, and ultimately with Qatar University. Throughout New Student Orientation, we will endeavor to educate our new students about, and invite them to become involved in, the many academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that QU offers.

In addition to informative presentations, New Student Orientation attendees will:

  • Receive personalized academic advising and course recommendations from the professional staff of the Foundation Program and their Undergraduate college and major of admission.
  • Register for their classes and track degree progress.
  • Access MyQU portal and their QU e-mail account services
  • Learn about various QU student services from Career Services Center, Library Services, Student Activities, Student Counseling Center, Student Funds, and the Student Learning Support Center.
  • Collect their QU ID card (if they have not already done so).

Students who fail to attend orientation on the assigned date will not be able to register for or attend classes.. It is therefore imperative that all Spring 2012 admits attend their assigned orientation day. Students who fail to attend their assigned orientation day will not be able to attend Qatar University and will need to re-apply for fall 2012 admission.
