Scholarships Types
All scholarships cover the cost of tuition fees while the benefits of some scholarships may also include one or more of the following benefits: the cost of textbooks fees free accommodation in university dormitories, and a yearly airfare ticket to the home country of the student, this benefit is available for international students who granted an external scholarship only and under the sponsorship of the university. The student is responsible to pay the due penalties in case he/she drops courses, or withdraw from the semester.
Scholarships contained within this guide include only first bachelor students and students who transfer from other universities to Qatar University. Non-degree applicants, visiting students, and applicants seeking a second bachelor's degree are not eligible for academic scholarships offered by Qatar University.
Competitive Scholarships
Qatar University offers this scholarship to the admitted students in the university who apply directly to the university. The nominated students may receive these scholarships during the Fall semester and the Spring semester of the same academic year, though they are NOT allowed to transfer the scholarship to the next academic year. There are two types of these scholarships which are internal and external Scholarships.
Internal scholarships
This scholarship is offered by the University to applicants who are residents in the State of Qatar.
Benefits
This scholarship includes exemption only from tuition fees and book fees.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to. In addition to, submitting the final, official high school transcript for newly admitted applicants.
- The scholarship must be benefited from in the same semester of the year in which the scholarship was awarded (mainly, registering for and passing classes), otherwise, the scholarship will be canceled in that term and the student will be informed by QU email.

External Scholarships
This scholarship is offered by the University to applicants from outside Qatar. These applicants may apply directly to the university.
Benefits
Students will be sponsored by Qatar University and these scholarships include exemption from courses tuition fees, provision of university accommodation, and annual round trip air fare ticket and textbooks fees exemption.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to. In addition, submitting the final, official high school transcript for newly admitted applicants.
- The scholarship must be benefited from in the same semester of the year in which the scholarship was awarded (mainly, registering for and passing classes), otherwise, the scholarship will be canceled in that term and the student will be informed by QU email.

Continuity Conditions
Students must meet academic scholarships terms and conditions in order to maintain the scholarship.
These scholarships are offered by the University to best high school fresh graduates who attain high averages in the Qatari Secondary Education Examinations. Twenty five male and twenty five female scholarships are awarded each year. No need for the student to apply for this type of scholarship, the student must apply for Qatar University scholarship only.
Benefits
These Scholarships include exemption from tuition fees and book fees.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Qatari Secondary Education Certificate.
- A minimum average of 95% in the secondary school certificate.
- The applicant should be a secondary school graduate in the same year in which the scholarship application is made.
- These scholarship awards are only made in the Fall semester.
- The scholarship must be benefited from in the first semester of the year in which the scholarship was awarded (mainly, registering for and passing classes), otherwise, the scholarship will be canceled in that term and the student will be informed by QU email.

Continuity Conditions

This scholarship is offered by the university to the top 50 academically distinguished students enrolled in the undergraduate level in QU; no need for the student to apply for this type of scholarship, the student must apply for Qatar University scholarship only.
Benefits
These Scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled at Qatar University.
- Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 out of 4.00.
- Must have completed at least 30 credit hours in QU.
- Students with the highest cumulative GPA will be selected.

Non-Competitive Scholarships
These scholarships are offered by the University to students of GCC countries who hold the High School Certificate or its equivalent in their countries or any other country with the exception of the State of Qatar. A number of scholarships are allocated to each GCC country. Such scholarships can be postponed to the second term in the same academic year but not to the next academic year.
Benefits
These scholarships include exemption from tuition fees and receive free accommodation from the University.
Qualifications:
- Obtain a letter from the embassy addressed to Qatar University requesting consideration for this specific scholarship.
- The applicant must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to.

The student must satisfy the maximum period of study terms condition as clarified in the terms and conditions section.
These scholarships are offered by the University to GCC students who hold the Qatari High School Certificate.
Benefits
These scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to.

The student must satisfy the maximum period of study terms condition as clarified in the terms and conditions section.
These scholarships are offered by the University to the children of Qatar University employees. The University offers a maximum of three scholarships to three children of the employee at one time.
Benefits
These scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to.
- The parent(s) of the applicant must be a full-time job employee at QU.
Required Documents:
- Certified Copy of the applicant’s Birth Certificate ( if the mother is the QU employee ).
- Letter from Human Resources of Qatar University verifying the employment of the parent(s), mentioning the following points:
- The employment number.
- The employment type is Full-time Job and the starting date of this job.
- The employment category (Academic or non-academic).

Other Scholarships
Qatar University offers a number of scholarships for students who want to join the Diploma programs offered by the College of Education.
Benefits
These scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.
Qualifications:

The applicant must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to.

The applicant must be working under the ministry of education and higher education or any governmental educational organization.

It should be the first time for the applicant to apply for a scholarship in the same category offered by the College of Education.
Required Documents:

"To whom it may concern" Letter for the new academic year proofing that the applicant is working under the ministry of education and higher education or any governmental educational organization.
- Copy of ID card or passport (identification card).
Continuity Conditions:
- The student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 out of 4 at the end of each semester.
- The duration of studying shouldn't exceed two semesters excluding the semesters of absence and withdrawal.
- The student should not be absent or withdraw for two separated or consecutive semesters.
- If the student fails in meeting any of the conditions to maintain the scholarship, it will be canceled and the student will have to pay the tuition fees of the following semesters.
- After the student's scholarship has been canceled, he/she will not be eligible to receive that scholarship again, regardless of whether the situation is amended. In all cases, the academic policies will be applied to the student as shown in the Student Handbook.
This scholarship is designed to learn Arabic for non-native speakers students from outside Qatar. The admission process to this scholarship is handling by the Scholarships and International Admissions Section in coordinating with the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Program. The student can apply to this program as a personal applicant or the student can be nominated by one of the organizations which have an established agreement with Qatar University and admitted by the President of Qatar University to grant scholarship on annual basis. The program duration is one academic year.
