Distinguished Students Contributions Awards
Non-competitive annual awards granted by QU President or his representative to various categories of students who have made distinguished contributions to student campus life, co-curricular and extra-curricular programs & activities at Qatar University. The selection of students is based on these awards conditions and criteria.
These awards are divided into 6 categories:
- Student Leadership Contributions Award
- Volunteering & Community Service Contributions Award
- Student Clubs and Organizations Contributions Award
- University Athletic Contributions Award
- Students Scientific, Cultural and Art Contributions Award
- Student Employment Contributions Award
General Conditions & Criteria
Candidates must meet the following conditions and criteria to be nominated for distinguished students’ Contributions awards:
- Must be active either in Fall or Spring semesters during the academic year of the award.
- Should maintain a good academic performance at least during the year of winning the award.
- Should not have been subject to disciplinary action (dismissal or warning) during the year of the award.
- Must be committed to QU values, principles and a good role model for the other students.
- Must be recommended by one of his/her direct advisors
This Award is presented to the students who meet the following condition and criteria:
- Completed at least 29 credit hours.
- Attend at least three training programs and workshops offered by the Student Leadership Center.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in campus life through engagement and participation in the University various committees, programs, and activities.
- Achieved a remarkable development of his/her leadership skills and personal capabilities as a result of participating in various programs, training workshops and events in the university.
- Contributed to developing skills and personal capabilities of the other student.
This Award is divided into four levels/categories based on the number of credit hours earned by candidates; the following conditions and criteria must be met by each category as follows:
Volunteering & Community Service Contributions Award for First Year Students:
- Students must be registered in the Volunteering & Community Service Center at QU.
- Must have participated in no less than 50 hours of voluntary work through QU Volunteering Center.
- Must have earned no more than 29 credit hours.
- Must have attended first-year students’ training and volunteering programs.
- Committed to ethics and spirit of voluntary work.
- Developed remarkably their personal skills through voluntary work.
Volunteering & Community Service Contributions Award for Second Year Students:
- Students must be registered in the Volunteering & Community Service Center at QU.
- Must have participated in no less than 200 hours of voluntary work through QU Volunteering Center.
- Must have completed 30 to 59 credit hours.
- Must have attended second-year students’ training and volunteering programs.
- Committed to ethics and spirit of voluntary work.
- Developed remarkably their personal skills through voluntary work.
Volunteering & Community Service Contributions Award for Third Year Students:
- Students must be registered in the Volunteering & Community Service Center at QU.
- Must have participated in no less than 300 hours of voluntary work through QU Volunteering Center.
- Must have completed 60 to 89 credit hours.
- Must have attended third-year students’ training and volunteering programs.
- Committed to ethics and spirit of voluntary work.
- Developed remarkably their personal skills through voluntary work.
- Contributed to strengthen and disseminate awareness and culture of the voluntary work & community service among their fellow students.
Volunteering & Community Service Contributions Award for Fourth Year Students:
- Students must be registered in the Volunteering & Community Service Center at QU.
- Must have participated for no less than 500 hours of voluntary work through QU Volunteering Center.
- Must have completed at least 90 credit hours.
- Must have attended fourth-year students’ training and volunteering programs.
- Committed to ethics and spirit of voluntary work.
- Developed remarkably their personal skills through voluntary work.
- Contributed to strengthen and disseminate awareness and culture of the voluntary work & community service among their fellow students.
- Attracted their fellow students to participate in the volunteering programs.
This Award is presented to clubs and students’ organizations at QU which meet the following conditions and criteria:
- The student club must be registered at QU Clubs & Students Organizations Section.
- The club should have its own mission, goals and clear plans; it should also strive to achieve its goals efficiently and effectively.
- Its members should meet periodically to discuss its strategic and executive plans.
- It should comply with QU financial and administrative regulations as well as instructions of clubs & organizations section.
- It should have a clear positive impact on students’ community.
- Its programs and events must be relevant to its goals.
- The club must strengthen partnerships and cooperation with other clubs and organizations to achieve the planned objectives.
This Award is presented to University teams (individually or collectively) which have contributed remarkably to the university sports the following conditions and criteria must be met:
- The student/team must be registered in Sports Affairs Department at QU.
- The student/team must be committed to attend development programs and sports training classes.
- The student/team must attain clear sports achievements in competitions and contests.
This Award is presented to students who have attained achievements in the name of Qatar University in scientific, research, cultural and artistic conferences and competitions in internal and external forums.
The student Employment Contributions Award is presented to those who meet the following conditions and criteria:
- The student must have completed 500 credit hours within the Student Employment Program.
- Must have attended the training workshops programs related to students employment.
- Developed remarkably his/her professional as well as personal skills through student employment program.
- Demonstrated a higher level of productivity in the workplace.
- Achieved performance evaluation no less than 3 out of 5 as an average of his/her monthly evaluation.
