Once registration is successfully completed, a student can print classes' schedule from their Banner accounts which is listing the courses, course number, course timetable, class location and the name of the instructor of each registered course. This schedule should be kept with the students to locate classes' rooms and instructors of registered courses.
After registration, students must make sure to log out from myBanner to ensure the security of their academic information.
A student may drop or add courses only during the designated period for dropping and adding. This period is determined by the University and is specified in the academic calendar. The University Academic Calendar is available to the public on the Qatar University's web site.
It is sometimes necessary for an academic department or college to make changes to its class schedule, such as changing class time, location, and instructor, merging of sections/groups, or even canceling the course. Such changes usually occur during the first week of classes in a semester. Departments will make every effort to announce such changes. However, it is the student’s responsibility to verify his/her registration in light of these changes. Changes to a student's registration are not permitted after the last day of the add /drop period.
Withdrawal period (if necessary)
A student may withdraw from one or more courses before the end of the eighth week of the semester provided that the total number of registered hours does not fall short of the required minimum.
Withdrawal from a semester (from all courses) requires the approval of the student's academic advisor and the Head of the appropriate Department. A student on academic probation will not be allowed to withdraw from the semester without providing a compelling reason. Withdrawal from a semester must be within the time limit set by the academic calendar. A student cannot withdraw from QU for more than four semesters; the exception to this provision is during a study adjournment (emergency reasons). If a student withdraws from a semester, he/she must re-enroll before registering for the following semester. The Vice President for Student Affairs may grant exceptions to this regulation in extenuating circumstances.
