Important Information
This course focuses on business internships that add a significant real-world component to students' education. Interns gain significant real-world experience to add in building resumes, and the company benefits from the additional help as well. The advantages come into play immediately through the contributions of the intern. Students also potentially gain long-term benefits by gaining a detailed perspective of the business world. Exploring the advantages of being an intern helps students decide if pursuing a position in a particular business aligns with their long-term goals.
As per university requirements, students registered for the internship course MAGT 307 are not allowed to register in any other course at the same time whether at QU or outside of QU. Please remember that any course taken at the same time with the internship will not count for satisfying your graduation requirements. Students need to check their Study Plans to know the classes that are pre-requisite to MAGT 307.

Who are Peer Advisors?
- Peer Advisors are students working in the academic advising office. They are trained to assist full time academic advisors to effectively carry out their job and therefore play an important role in the success of the academic advising office.
What are the responsibilities of peer advisors?
- Peer advisors are the first point of contact the student has with the academic advising office and they are the link with the full-time academic advisors.
- They answer student questions regarding registration, study plans, courses offered. They assist students in interpreting course schedules, reading transcripts and understanding academic policies.
- Peer advisors teach the students how to register online, how to declare their major or minor online and how to navigate the QU we site in general to find important information they might need.
- They guide students to the available student resources on campus and in particular the Student Learning Support Center (SLSC) at the university level and at the college level.
- Peer advisors perform other duties as assigned by their supervisors and other academic advisors in the CBE Academic Advising Office.
What to expect and not expect from a peer advisor?
- Peer advisors are expected to listen to students and answer their questions while maintaining a high level of privacy and trust
- They are expected to respect the advisees’ opinions and not to impose their own point of views or values.
- Peer advisors have to be neutral if and when students ask about the ease or difficulty of certain subjects and if asked about their opinions of faculty and staff.
- Peer advisors advise, they do not tell students what they should or should not do.
- Peer advisors teach and train the students on how to perform online tasks (like declaring major and minor / registering or dropping courses) but they do not do tasks on behalf of the student. The student has to take full responsibility of these decisions.
Why become a peer advisor?
- Peer Advisors work among professionals and get training opportunities to build and enhance their interpersonal, communication, creativity and team skills. They gain a wealth of work experience that would assist them in building their CV and enhance their work opportunities after graduation.
