Criteria

    Award Criteria:

    The following criteria will be used by the jury panel for rating and selecting the best websites submitted by the contestants:

    • Content (40%):

      The topic chosen and the information presented on the website must be “relevant to Qatar”, important, and concise. The items under this category are:
    1. Purpose
      • The topic chosen and the information presented on the website are relevant to Qatar, important, and concise.
      • The website has a specific mission or goals
      • The website contents are accurate, useful, and of high quality.

    2. Human Interactivity
      • The website has great customer/surfer interaction processes.
      • The website utilizes mail-lists, newsletters, newsgroups, chat, etc.
      • The website eases information access through the use of FAQ’s, search facilities, site map, steps to destination, etc.

    3. Verbal Expression
      • Ideas are expressed in a very clear and organized fashion. It was easy to figure out what the site was about.
      • The website contents are presented using simple language and correct grammar.
      • The website is free of spelling mistakes, punctuation errors, etc.
      • The website is free of duplications and repetitions.
      • There are no dead ends or outdated pages.

    • Design (30%):
    1. Presentation
      • Excellent presentation quality and clarity of contents.
      • The importance of the contents is highlighted through the presentation design.

    2. Graphic Design
      • Site design demonstrates original thought in the use of language, layout and color
      • Appropriate and thematic graphic elements are used to make visual connections that contribute to the understanding of concepts, ideas and relationships.
      • Exceptional artistry and elegant look.
      • Appropriate use of font size and styles makes website easy to read.
      • Images support the theme in a clear, and exciting way

    3. User Friendliness
      • The website is very easy to use.
      • The website maintains a theme of clarity & simplicity.

    4. Layout & Colors
      • Differences in type size and/or color are used well and consistently.
      • Optimum general layout and use of space.
      • The color combinations greatly enhance the presentability of the website and the use of color is very effective.

    • Functionality (20%):
    1. Speed & Bandwidth Sensitivity
      • Very small overall page sizes and complexity.
      • Very low average download time.
      • Very short response time for reaction/interaction.

    2. Quality of HTML, and Multimedia Technology
      • Site represents full and correct use of appropriate web site software capabilities.
      • Very clean HTML with no faulty code.
      • Very high quality of multimedia components, such as; Java & JavaScript, images, audio, video, etc. (only when used).
      • Very effective use of technologies such as RealPlayer, Flash, Beatnik, etc. (only when used).
      • Very good database integration and functionality. (only when used)

    3. Navigation & Links
      • Design effective navigation for the site.
      • Navigation is well-architected, easy to use, and consistent throughout the site.
      • Very good navigation functionality and clarity.
      • There are no broken links.

    • Originality and Legality (10%):
    1. Innovation, Creativity, and Legality
      • The work is unique and rare to be offered elsewhere.
      • Contains uncommon and innovative solutions.
      • Very creative use of resources.
      • All source codes are included.

    2. Legality
      • Copyright laws are correctly followed and respected.
      • Content and activities are all legal
