The Center for Advanced Materials at Qatar University established a NDT unit to cater the training and certification requirements of industry in Qatar. Nondestructive testing (NDT) is a technique used to evaluate a system, material, or object without compromising its potential future usefulness. The term is typically used to describe non-medical investigations of material integrity. NDT is frequently used as an inspection method in the oil and gas sector to find hidden flaws in welds and other metallic components.
Several methods of NDT are extensively used in oil, gas, and other industrial sectors in Qatar. The personnel working with different NDT methods needs internationally approved certification for performing tests and for interpreting the test results.
CAM has unique excellence in the field of material technologies. With well-equipped laboratories and experienced expertise, the Center offers knowledgeable assistance to local oil, gas and processing industries as well as the learning community in Qatar. CAM has a planed to establish a NDT training center in Qatar to cater the training requirements of the local industry in the fields of PCN, ISO 9712-2021, ASNT and other relevant schemes.
High quality training facilities are available at CAM NDT Unit for conducting for the training, certification and characterization of metals and composite material in the following methods
- Magnetic Particle Inspection
- Dye Penetrant Inspection
- Visual Inspection
- Ultrasonic Inspection
- Eddy Current Inspection
- Radiographic Inspection
