Mission

The Mission of College of Nursing is to prepare world-class nursing graduates who are committed to delivering optimal healthcare that is aligned with national startegy, research and evidence-based practice.

Admission Requirements

All applicants to Qatar University College of Nursing must complete 12 years of formal education and their results must be certified by the appropriate educational agency.

The Following high school grade requirements mentioned in this section are minimum scores, they do not guarantee admission, and they may changes according to the strength of the applicant and the available capacity in the College of Nursing

  • Available in English
  • Available to male and female applicants
  • High School GPA of 70%, science track
  • English: IELTS ≥ 5.5 or TOEFL IBT ≥ 61
  • Mathematics: SAT 530 or ACT ≥ 24 or QU Match Placer 200.
  • English and Mathematics test scores must be submitted to the Qatar University Testing Center according to announced timelines.

Transfer to College of Nursing

Within QU Health:

Internal transfers: internal transfers are made in line with the internal transfer process and timelines set by QU. The Office of Student Affairs at the College will evaluate internal transfer applications based on college capacity and on the performance in common year courses.

Non-health cluster students (from other QU colleges)

  • Minimum GPA is 3.00 and above.
  • Total credit hours preferable not more than 33CHs.
  • Complete at least two science courses from the below list with minimum grade B: (BIOL 101,BIOL 110, MATH 101, MATH 103, STAT 101, STAT 220, STAT 151, and CHEM 101/103)

Provide nursing program designed to enable students to design and implement competent, patient-centered professional nursing care for individuals, families, and populations across the health continuum in a variety of community-based settings and institutions, emphasizing patient safety and quality.
  2. Promote scientific research culture and evidence-base practice to ensure safe and high-quality care
  3. Promote effective use of information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, support decision-making continuously to improve the quality and safety of health care delivery
  4. Enhance application of concepts of leadership, quality improvement, and management to the practice of professional nursing
  5. Promote effective communication in interactions with culturally diverse individuals, families, and communities, and other health care providers
  6. Provide an educational environment that foster professional development, personal growth and life-long education

Demonstrate effective therapeutic, inter and intra professional communication and collaborative skills and proficiency in health informatics to deliver and document quality client care and optimize client care outcomes

Use critical thinking and clinical reasoning to provide safe, holistic nursing care across the lifespan in a variety of complex healthcare settings utilizing the nursing process to promote health, maintain well-being, prevent diseases, and restore health for individuals, family, groups, community, and population
