Qatar University Organizes an Art Exhibition Entitled “My Feather Welcomes the World Cup”

For female students of the Art Education Department
The Art Education Department at the College of Education at Qatar University (QU) organized an art exhibition entitled “My Feathers Welcome the World Cup” for the students of the Art Education Department.
This exhibition coincides with the approach of the State of Qatar to host the World Cup 2022 event, and out of the College of Education's keenness to interact and participate in all local or global events, the College, represented by the Art Education Department, organized an art exhibition to display the students' participation that reflects the identity of the community in an artistic way.
Dr. Hessa Bint Hamad Bin Khalifa AL-Thani, Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Latifa Al Mughaisib, Head of the Art Education Department, inaugurated the exhibition, in the presence of many university employees and a number of guests and visitors from various artistic and cultural institutions in Doha, including: Professor Suad Al Salem, Head of the Arts Department. The Ministry of Education, and Professor Sarah Al-Thani from Qatar Museums, in addition to a group of mentors, teachers and specialists from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
In the opening speech, Dr. Hessa, said: “I am pleased to meet you today, in the annual art exhibition of the Department of Art Education in our College, College of Education. This year's art exhibition coincided with the World Cup 2022 hosted by the State of Qatar. The Department of Art Education in our college was eager to confirm their artistic presence in this event and change how society interacts. We believe that the College of Education plays a significant role in interacting with local and global events, and we are eager to leave our educational, artistic, and cultural imprint on various occasions. Through this exhibition, the World Cup activities in 2022 will be translated into a visual language that expresses the community's culture, identity, and special creative and cultural history.”
Al-Anoud Ali Al-Balushi, a student participating in the exhibition, expressed her happiness, saying: “Since the Art Education Department at Qatar University takes great delight in the paintings we created with our brushes and the significant documentation we created to welcome the World Cup, we are happy to participate in this worldwide event today. Expressive art, as each student was assigned to depict an aspect of one of the participating nations, and the majority of the pieces were connected by strewn footballs as a dynamic and artistic blend that gave the pieces a cohesive visual quality.”
Mashael Al-Shahwani, a student from the Art Education Department participating in the exhibition, said: “We are honored, as the students of the Art Education Department at Qatar University, to participate in the exhibition (My Feather Welcomes the World Cup) by presenting our work within the 3D modeling course and under the supervision of Professor Iyad Tohme, where we were allowed to display our work in this way. The new technology in the department is a simulation of shapes that makes the viewing more realistic, and we as students feel proud and the extent of our belonging to our beloved country Qatar.”
