Our Story
QUYSC, the first STEM educational research center in Qatar, marks a significant milestone. This center is an expansion of the successful project-based research and modular STEM education initiated by Al-Bairaq in 2010. Al-Bairaq, founded by Prof. Noora Jabor Al-Thani with unwavering support from Qatar University, laid the foundation for this endeavor. The newly established center serves as the primary platform for students to engage in scientific pursuits and further immerse themselves in STEM education at Qatar University. At its core, QUYSC crafts its own student-centric STEM informal programs, fostering an environment where students actively participate in scientific endeavors. This is underscored by the center's commitment to authentic STEM research, as evidenced by its published works. Collaboratively, QUYSC collaborates with diverse departments and colleges within Qatar University to extend its reach through outreach initiatives and short-term scientific projects. This collaborative approach complements the center's overarching goals and objectives.

QUYSC's mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality STEM education and research projects that advance knowledge in the field. QUYSC collaboratively acts across all levels of the educational spectrum at QU to recognize, attract, nurture and develop talent among Qataris school students.

The center's excellence is underscored by its recognition from reputable national and international organizations and competitions, including WISE. It is renowned for delivering a research-driven, comprehensive STEM program that incorporates inquiry-based and STEM design pedagogy, aligning seamlessly with the skill sets needed in the 21st century workplace. The center's interactive program includes real-time assessment capabilities, achieved through a thoughtful integration of STEM curricula both horizontally and vertically.
