The Systems and Storage Administration section is responsible for managing the core server and storage infrastructure. This includes the administration of both Windows and Linux servers, enterprise storage systems, cloud services, and Office 365. The section ensures the reliability, performance  and security of critical systems that support academic, research, and administrative operations.
Key responsibilities include  virtualization, enterprise backup and recovery, patch management, and maintaining high availability of services through proactive monitoring and maintenance. The team also provides infrastructure support for research activities, including High Performance Computing (HPC) environments, ensuring that computing and storage resources meet the demands of  performance driven research initiatives.

    User Account Management
Centralized management of user identities, including the creation, modification, and deactivation of user accounts across multiple systems and services. Ensures appropriate access controls, account lifecycle management, and compliance.
Email, Calendaring, and Mailing List Management
Provision and administration of email accounts for faculty, staff, and students , shared calendar configuration, distribution group management, and mailing list administration to ensure efficient internal communication.
    Collaboration Tools Support
Management and support of digital collaboration platforms such as Microsoft 365, and Teams, enabling seamless video conferencing, file sharing and co-authoring, to enhance productivity across academic and administrative units.
    Server Provisioning and Management
Provisioning and End-to-end lifecycle management of physical and virtual servers including capacity planning, deployment, OS configuration, monitoring, patching, and performance optimization to support university-wide services and applications.
    File Storage and Sharing
Centralized and secure storage solutions including on-premise shared drives and integrated cloud storage options, enabling controlled access, and collaboration while ensuring data integrity and compliance.
    Research Server Provisioning
Deployment of physical or virtual servers tailored to meet the unique requirements of individual research projects, ensuring adequate performance, storage, and compliance with research data policies.
    High-Performance Computing (HPC)
Provision of scalable and secure computing clusters optimized for high-speed processing and data-intensive research tasks.
    Virtual Desktop and Application Hosting
Deployment and maintenance of secure, scalable virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and hosted applications (vApps), enabling remote access to academic software and administrative tools from any location while maintaining centralized control and security.
    Backup and Disaster Recovery
Automated backup solutions for critical systems and user data, coupled with regular disaster recovery simulations to ensure rapid restoration of services in case of system failure or data loss, supporting business continuity plans.
