Welcome to the Core Curriculum Program (CCP)—a foundational pillar of Qatar University (QU) and an integral part of the Deanship of General Studies. This program lies at the heart of undergraduate education and reflects a university-wide, collaborative effort involving contributions from all colleges across the institution.
Guided by a commitment to academic excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation, the CCP builds upon years of institutional development and dedication. It represents more than just a collection of required courses; it is a dynamic academic space where disciplines intersect, ideas converge, and students begin to shape their intellectual and personal identities.
Through this program, students are encouraged to explore diverse perspectives, develop critical thinking, enhance their communication and leadership skills, and cultivate a broader understanding of the world. The CCP is designed to provide every student with a shared academic foundation, equipping them not only for successful careers, but also for meaningful lives as responsible citizens, adaptive professionals, and lifelong learners. In today’s complex global landscape, such skills are more essential than ever.
In alignment with QU’s strategic vision, the CCP integrates a wide range of contemporary competencies—including communication, cultural awareness, critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, digital literacy, social responsibility, and entrepreneurial thinking—into the very fabric of the program. These elements are central to the program’s mission.
The CCP includes a distinguished set of courses divided into six packages: Identity and Communication, Social/ Behavioral Sciences, Natural Sciences / Mathematics, Humanities/ Fine Arts, Core Knowledge and Skills, and Supplemental College/ Program. Each package is the product of intentional collaboration with QU’s colleges to ensure academic coherence and relevance across disciplines.
Beyond academics, the CCP is committed to enhancing student engagement through innovative initiatives and partnerships with various QU units. We also work closely with faculty members to maintain the quality and relevance of the curriculum, ensuring it evolves to meet the needs of our students and the local community.
Whether you are a student, faculty member, or visitor: Welcome. Here is where the journey begins—with questions that promote thinking, courses that inspire, and ideas that endure.
