The section serves as a liaison between Qatar University and the Ministry of Public Health in the State of Qatar regarding matters related to research ethics. It is responsible for registering and documenting the institutional research ethics committees with the Ministry, in accordance with the national policies and guidelines.
Providing support to the research community at Qatar University by offering guidance and establishing the necessary controls to ensure the integrity and ethical conduct of scientific research involving human subjects, animals, or biological hazards. The section also seeks to protect all parties involved in research, in accordance with international regulations and the guidelines and requirements of the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar.
Providing administrative and technical support to the institutional research ethics committees, including receiving, reviewing and processing research applications of various types, and facilitating their evaluation by the relevant specialized committees.
Monitoring ongoing compliance by conducting reviews and post-approval follow-ups of research projects to ensure full adherence to ethical standards throughout the entire duration of the research project.
Raising awareness and preparedness among researchers by providing regular orientation sessions and organizing practical training workshops for applicants. These activities aim to facilitate the application process and improve the quality of submissions in alignment with ethical and regulatory requirements.
Ethical approvals may be required from one or more of the committees listed below, depending on the nature of the research project. Separate applications must be submitted to each committee (as needed) before the research commences.
