Under the Patronage of His Highness The Amir

Qatar University celebrates the graduation of the 49th cohort (Class of 2026) on Monday, 4 May, 2026, at 10:00 am, at the Qatar University Sports and Events Complex. The Distinguished Female Graduates Ceremony will be held under the patronage and presence of Her Highness Consort of HH The Amir Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani, on Tuesday, 5 May, 2026, at 10:00 am.

The Graduation Ceremony is one of Qatar University’s longstanding annual traditions since its establishment in 1977. This year’s ceremony continues this tradition, celebrating graduates of both undergraduate and postgraduate programs over two consecutive days (the main ceremonies):

  • Day 1: Male graduates
  • Day 2: Distinguished female graduates

Successive college ceremonies for female graduates will follow in subsequent days.

All graduates from a full academic year will be honored, including those graduating in:

Summer 2025
Fall 2025
Winter 2026
Expected graduates of Spring 2026

College Ceremonies

College ceremonies for female graduates will be held following the main ceremonies at the Qatar University Sports and Events Complex. The College Dean will honor graduates from both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, in the presence of the University President or a representative on the president’s behalf.

Faculty Members

Attendance Registration

Faculty members may attend the Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony by completing the attendance registration form no later than Thursday, 23 April, 2026 (end of business day).

Official Academic Attire for Male Faculty Members

The official attire for male faculty participating in the ceremony shall follow the University’s established protocol:

  • The black Qatari bisht is the approved ceremonial attire or The academic gown corresponding to the highest degree obtained
  • It must be worn throughout the official proceedings until the conclusion of the ceremony.

Bisht Collection

Faculty members may request a graduation bisht when submitting their attendance registration through the electronic system. Faculty members who have not previously received a bisht will be asked to choose a bisht.
Only one bisht is issued per faculty member.
Upon receiving the attendance confirmation email, faculty members should proceed to the Qatari Bisht Shop for collection. Adjustments to the bisht length may be made at the shop if needed.

Bisht Specifications

  • Black Qatari bisht worn over the thobe or formal suit.
  • Length extends from shoulders to ankle level.
  • Open front, sleeveless, with side openings for hands.
  • Trimmed with approved gold embroidery.

How to Wear the Bisht

  • The right arm is inserted into the right sleeve for greeting and handshaking.
  • The left arm remains inside the bisht to hold its edges while walking.

Dress Code Protocol

1. Traditional Qatari Attire

  • White thobe
  • White ghutra
  • Black aqal
  • Black or white sandals, or closed formal black shoes

2. Formal Suit

  • Black or navy suit
  • White shirt
  • Maroon tie
  • Black Qatari bisht
  • Closed formal black shoes

Vice Presidents and Deans:

  • Wear a white bisht for morning ceremonies
  • Wear a black bisht for evening ceremonies

Official Academic Attire for Female Faculty Members

The official attire for female faculty members shall be:

  • A black abaya embroidered in gold or
  • The academic gown corresponding to the highest degree obtained

Female faculty members who have not received an abaya previously may request a new graduation abaya.

Description

The abaya is black with golden embroidery inspired by the Qatar University logo, symbolizing the integration of Islamic heritage with the educational system.

  • The geometric patterns reflect authentic Arab heritage.
  • The design represents pride and identity.
  • The maroon color reflects the Qatari national flag, symbolizing the country’s history and cultural depth.

Graduation Abaya Collection

The graduation abaya can be obtained by registering to attend the Graduation Ceremony, where the steps for requesting the academic attire will be provided. Please note that only one graduation attire is issued per faculty member.

Graduation Ceremony Information

You may visit the Graduation Schedule page to view the dates and timings of all main ceremonies and college ceremonies.

All faculty members are required to attend the college ceremonies during the morning session, with arrival starting at 8:30 am, and gates closing at 9:30 am.
For the evening session, arrival will begin at 2:30 pm, and gates will close at 3:30 pm. Entry will not be permitted after gate closure.

Graduation Day Instructions
  • Arrive on time.
  • Wear official attire before entering the venue.
  • Enter through the designated Faculty Members Gate.
  • Proceed to the Faculty Registration Area to collect the graduation pin.
  • Place the pin on the left side.
  • Proceed to the designated seating area.

Members of the Graduation Organizing Committee will be available to assist faculty members throughout the event.
