Graduation Gown

 Gown Description: The unique design of the new graduation uniform is inspired by Qatar University's logo which symbolizes the intertwining of Islamic/Arabic heritage with the educational system, where the embroidered geometric shapes on the graduation cloak symbolize the authentic Islamic/Arabic heritage, which forms part of QU's logo and represents a symbol of pride. The maroon color symbolizes the State of Qatar's flag which corresponds to the history of the country and its civilizational dimension.
Instructions for Wearing the Graduation Gown
  1. Female students must be graduates of the Class of 2026.
  2. Wearing the graduation gown is mandatory for all female graduates throughout the entire graduation ceremony.
  3. No modifications will be allowed to the gown design except for size modifications.
  4. Wearing any emblem or sash representing a country or organization is not permitted during the ceremony or when walking on stage.
  5. Wearing previous graduation gowns, with former designs are not permitted.
  6. Wearing athletic shoes is prohibited.
  7. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and suitable footwear for walking long distances inside the ceremony hall.
Guidelines for Purchasing the Graduation Gown

Purchase is made via the dedicated electronic link. After entering the link, you must:

  1. Fill out the form.
  2. Choose the suitable size.
  3. Complete the online payment process. Note that payment is electronic only, and cash payment is not permitted.
Available payment methods: All approved electronic payment cards.
Female graduates who have not completed payment through the website will not receive gowns.
 Exchange and Refund Policy: The amount paid cannot be refunded. The size of the gown chosen through the electronic payment system cannot be exchanged with another size. A graduate is allowed to purchase only one graduation gown.
Measurements (inches): Available sizes: S, M1, M2, L, XL, XXL.

 Gown Pickup: The graduate can collect the outfit 24 hours after the electronic payment, at the designated locations during the announced distribution times.
 Required Documents upon Collection: Female graduates should present their QU ID card or Qatari ID card + the message that contains the e-payment receipt. Another person can collect the uniform on behalf of the graduate, provided that the required documents are presented.
 Distribution Dates: 26-30 April 2026, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Location: Qatar University, Student Affairs Building (I11), Ground Floor, Hall (C141).

Step by Step guide for buying a Graduation Gown

Approved Attire: All graduates are required to adhere to the approved formal graduation attire in accordance with the university's established protocol. The approved formal attire for graduates is the black Qatari Bisht. It is a unified symbol for all graduates. Graduates must commit to wearing it throughout the entire official ceremonies.
Bisht Specifications
  • A black Qatari bisht worn over the thobe or a formal suit.
  • Its length extends from the shoulders to the ankle level.
  • It is open at the front without sleeves, featuring side openings for the hands.
  • It is trimmed with golden embroidery.
How to Wear the Bisht
  • The right arm is inserted into the right sleeve of the bisht and is used for greetings and handshakes.
  • The left arm remains inside the bisht to hold its edges while moving or walking.
The bisht can be obtained from traditional markets (souqs) in Doha.

Attire Protocol
1. Traditional Qatari Dress:
  • White Thobe.
  • White Ghutra.
  • Black Aqal.
  • Wearing black or white sandals, or wearing black closed formal shoes.
2. Formal Suit:
  • Formal suit in black or navy blue.
  • White shirt.
  • Maroon necktie.
  • Wearing the black Qatari Bisht.
  • Wearing black closed formal shoes.
Important Notes — Compliance Requirements: The graduate's attire is subject to inspection before being allowed entry into the ceremony hall. The determination of its compliance with the instructions is left to the discretion of the organizing entity.

The inspection includes the following:
  • Commitment to the approved Ghutra color (white).
  • Commitment to formal colors if a suit is chosen.
  • Commitment to the approved black color for the Qatari Bisht.
  • Refraining from wearing athletic shoes or informal footwear.
  • Refraining from wearing logos, scarves, or symbols representing countries, entities, or organizations.
  • Refraining from adding personal embroideries, symbols, or additions to the uniform.
  • Refraining from wearing additional elements that disrupt the formal nature of the ceremony.
  • Taking off the Bisht during the official ceremonies is not permitted.
Compliance with all the above is a fundamental prerequisite for participating in the graduation ceremony.
Non-Compliance Procedures: To maintain the formal nature of the ceremonies, full adherence to the approved attire per the university's protocol is required. Compliance with all attire requirements listed on the graduates' attire webpage is a prerequisite for participating in official ceremonies and ascending the stage. In case of non-compliance, the graduate will be asked to correct the violation before joining the official procession. If the violation cannot be corrected, the graduate will not be allowed to participate in the ceremonies or ascend the stage.
