 ​Graduates are kindly requested to read the FAQ carefully, as they cover all enquiries related to the graduation ceremony.
General Information
What is the duration of the Graduation Ceremony?
The ceremony lasts for approximately one hour, which includes the honoring ceremony and certificate distribution.
Who will honor the female graduates during the college ceremonies?
The college dean will honor the graduates as they ascend the stage, in the presence of the University President or their representative.
Will transportation be available for students and their guests to the ceremony venue?
Yes, buses will be provided to transport graduates and their guests from distant parking lots to the ceremony hall to facilitate access.
Is there a team to assist students with special needs?
Yes, a team of volunteers has been assigned to accompany students with special needs and assist them with mobility and access to the stage.
Graduates' Representative
Is the graduate representative's speech limited to bachelor's students only?
  • Distinguished Female Graduates' Ceremony: Nominations are limited to female bachelor's graduates with a GPA of 3.5 and above, in addition to distinguished female graduate studies students (Qatari nationals only).
  • Male Graduates' and College Ceremonies: Nominations are open to all graduates with a GPA of 2.80 and above, including graduate studies students (Qatari nationals only).
  • All applicants will undergo a personal interview with a specialized committee to select the most suitable candidate.
Official Communication with Graduates
I have not received any emails about the graduation ceremony. How can I confirm my status as a graduate?
The university email is the official means of communication. Please ensure your university email is active and contact the IT Department if you face any issues.
I have not received my graduation statement yet. How can I confirm my status?
You can check your academic record through the Student Records Section – Registration Department via email: records@qu.edu.qa.
Does the graduation ceremony include all graduates of the academic year, including summer semester graduates?
Yes, the ceremony includes all graduates from the following semesters: Summer 2025, Fall 2025, Winter 2026, and those expected to graduate in Spring 2026.
Ceremony Logistics
How are the graduates' seats arranged?
Seats are arranged according to: (1) The degree, (2) The cumulative GPA.
I have not graduated yet and will complete my graduation requirements at the end of the Spring 2026 semester. Will I be invited to attend the graduation ceremony?
Yes, the 2026 graduation ceremony includes all students expected to graduate at the end of the Spring 2026 semester, and they will be invited to attend the ceremony.
I have received a failing grade in one of the courses during the Spring 2026 semester. Will I still be graduated as part of the Class of 2026?
Yes, all students expected to graduate in Spring 2026 will graduate, even if a failing grade is recorded in one of the courses, provided that all graduation requirements have been fulfilled.
If I still have one remaining course or a field training requirement in the Summer or Fall 2026 semester, can I graduate in this cohort?
No, the Class of 2026 graduation ceremony includes only actual graduates from the following semesters: Summer 2025, Fall 2025, Winter 2026, in addition to students expected to graduate in the Spring 2026 semester. As for students who still have remaining courses in Summer 2026 or Fall 2026, they will be included in the next graduation cohort.
I am expected to graduate in Spring 2026, but I would like to defer my graduation ceremony to the next cohort. Is this possible?
Deferring the graduation ceremony is not permitted. All expected graduates are included only in their designated cohort ceremony. An electronic invitation to attend the ceremony will be sent, and in the event of absence, the graduate will not be included in the next ceremony.
Can the names displayed on the screen during the ceremony be modified?
Yes, names can be corrected in accordance with official documents (such as a passport or Qatari ID) through the Support and Help Desk in the Graduates Registration Hall on the day of the ceremony.
Financial and Registration Requirements
Can I attend the graduation ceremony if I have outstanding tuition fees?
Yes, you are permitted to attend the ceremony; however, you will not be able to receive the Graduation Certificate until all financial obligations are settled.
Does the Distinguished Students Ceremony include graduate students with a GPA of 3.5 and above?
Please refer to the Outstanding Students page or contact the Graduate Studies Office to confirm the details.
Are Dean’s List students recognized during the Distinguished Students Ceremony?
Distinguished graduates are recognized based on their cumulative GPA. Details can be found on the Outstanding Graduates page.
How can I confirm that I am included in the Distinguished Students list?
You can review the eligibility criteria on the Distinguished Graduates page or contact the Student Records Section at Student Affairs.
Invitation Cards
Will the invitation card be physical or electronic?
Invitation cards will be distributed in physical format, and they must be presented upon entry to the ceremony.
How can I collect invitation cards for parents/guardians?
Graduates can collect parents' invitation cards according to the schedule announced on the Invitation Cards page.
What should I do if I am unable to collect the invitation card at the scheduled time?
In emergency cases, please contact via email at gci@qu.edu.qa or through the Contact Us page.
I am outside the country and could not collect my invitation card. How can I obtain it?
You may collect the card directly at the ceremony hall before it begins, provided that you present proof of your arrival date in the country.
Are children allowed to attend the graduation ceremony?
No, children under the age of twelve are not permitted to attend the ceremony.
Photography and Live Streaming
How can I receive my graduation ceremony photos?
The Communications and Public Relations Department will photograph graduates during the ceremony. The photos will be sent to the College Deans' Offices, and collection dates will be announced via the university email.
Will the ceremony be live-streamed?
Yes, the ceremony will be broadcast live via social media platforms, and the recording will be available for viewing later.
I do not wish to be photographed during the ceremony. Can I object?
Please note that your attendance at the ceremony constitutes implicit consent to photography and publication.
Absence from the Ceremony and Gift Collection
Can someone else attend the ceremony on my behalf and collect the gift?
No, attendance at the ceremony and collection of the gift (at the ceremony) are limited to the graduate only; representatives are not permitted.
I was unable to attend the ceremony. How can I collect my graduation gift?
You may collect your gift within six months from the date of the ceremony from the Business Support Office at Administrative Services – Student Affairs.
Can I authorize another person to collect the gift on my behalf?
Yes, provided that the following are submitted:
  • A copy of the graduate's Qatari ID.
  • The authorized person's Qatari ID.
  • An official authorization letter.
Graduation Attire
Can I use graduation attire from previous years?
Yes, if the graduation attire is the same version as the current Class of 2026 attire.
Can I alter the size of the attire after receiving it?
Only length adjustments are permitted, without any changes to the design of the attire.
How can I determine my appropriate size?
A size chart is available on the Graduation Attire page, and it should be reviewed before completing the purchase.
Can I request a refund if payment is made more than once?
A refund can be issued in the event of duplicate payment for the same size by contacting the Gown Committee via email at gowns@qu.edu.qa or through the Contact Us page.
